Title: Head Coach – Men’s Club Ice Hockey Status: Part-Time, No Benefits, One-Year Appointment with reappointment based on annual review Affiliation: Non-Union Salary: $15,000 Reports to: Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine & Club Sports
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Rhode Island College is seeking a Head Coach to lead the Men’s Ice Hockey program from its current club status to NCAA Div. III. This transition will culminate with full conference affiliation within 4-5 yrs.
The ideal candidate will would have demonstrated success participating in collegiate hockey as well as experience coaching at the college level.
Additionally, the candidate would have a proven track record on being able to identify, recruit and retain prospective student-athletes to build a competitive program.
It is expected that the candidate can assume leadership and be an excellent communicator in developing relationships with students, staff, alumni and professional colleagues within the hockey community.
Required: Bachelor’s degree and two years coaching experience within an educational setting, preferably college
Reappointment and yearly salary increase based on annual review.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Experience: Two (2) years coaching experience within an educational setting (high school, intercollegiate, etc.)
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must possess the ability to supervise and work well with others, evidence of problem solving ability, effective management skills, and the willingness to assume leadership in promoting good relations in dealing effectively with students, staff, alumni, the community and other professional colleagues.
Must be self-initiating and possess effective organization, planning, interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate practices and weekend games.
A valid driver’s license, ability to pass a safe driving course, and the ability to drive College owned vehicles.
Must maintain valid CPR, AED and Standard First Aid certification.
