Dakota State University is seeking candidates for an Assistant Coach for Football and Track. This is a ten-month, benefit eligible position which will work half time for each sport. The purpose of this position is to assist the head coaches of football and track. This assistant coach for football will work with a position group assigned by the head coach and as a sprints and hurdles coach for men and women’s track. This coach will also assist with efforts for recruiting, fundraising, compliance, student retention and student study efforts to maintain higher student athlete Grade Point Averages (GPA’s).
Requirements: The incumbent for this position must have the ability, technical skills, and proven knowledge to work with collegiate athletes. Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both oral and written) are necessary. Must have ability to speak, read and write English fluently, read and teach sport plays and possess ability to coach, mentor and develop student athletes. Bachelor’s degree required. One to three years of previous coaching and recruiting experience is preferred.
Applicants should have the knowledge of the evaluation and assessment of student athletes for skills and abilities, ability to communicate information clearly and concisely; establish effective working relationships with coaching staff, student athletes, and administration; work evening and weekend hours and travel as required by the position.
