Auburn University invites interested applicants for the position Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach. The individual in this position is responsible for assisting the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Performance with designing and implementing Sports Performance programs for Olympic Sports Programs.
-Assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Performance/Olympic Sports as assigned in creating a championship strength and conditioning training environment and culture
-Assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Performance/Olympic Sports with the implementation of sport-specific programs based on peer-reviewed, evidence-based protocols to enhance the fitness, strength, power, and speed indices of the intercollegiate athletes in the assigned sport(s).
-Assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Performance/Olympic Sports in implementing a motivational environment which athletes strive for consistent elite level
-Assist with implementation of body-fat reduction/lean body mass enhancement strategies in accordance with sports medicine and dietetics
-Work closely with sport coaches to monitor athlete performance
-Assist coaches in recruiting
-Collaborate with Athletic Training, Sports Medicine and Nutrition staff regarding rehabilitation and sport performance plans.
-Supervise, advise, and work with staff, graduate assistants, and undergraduate students who work with Strength and Conditioning
-Enforce Auburn University Department of Athletics standards, policies, and mission
-Maintain all records concerning the student-athletes
-Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities
-Other duties as assigned
Entry into the candidate pool will require the following:
-Bachelor's Degree required and Master's Degree preferred in an area of study that provides a knowledge base in exercise physiology and athletic performance.
-Minimum of two to three years of experience working at the collegiate level in sports performance. Experience at the collegiate level is highly desired.
-Current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association required.
-CPR, AED and First Aid certification required.
-Ability to utilize advanced knowledge of physiology and sport performance to create, direct, and implement a custom and individual sport specific strength and conditioning program.
