Northern Illinois University is accepting applications for the position of Head Coach for Men's Golf. This is a full-time, 12 month position with benefits. This position will be responsible for management and administration of all phases of men’s golf program, athletes, and staff. This is a professional coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adhering with the policies, rules and regulations of affiliated national, regional and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the Mid-American conference (or subsequent member conference) and the university.

• Provide an overall positive educational environment for our Student-Athletes conducive to learning, athletic development, social growth, and preparing them for life beyond college. Supervise, in conjunction with the athletic tutoring and advising program, the total academic progress of the team implementing corrective action plans through appropriate staff. • Preparation and conduct of all team-related activities including skill instruction, sport strategy and competitive opportunities. Coach student-athletes individually and in groups, and demonstrate game techniques; Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NCAA and conference regulations for specified positions. Develop, recommend and teach game strategy. • Perform team-related administrative duties such as budget, scheduling, travel arrangements, etc. • Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the department and university. Responsible for the development, safety and conduct of the student-athletes within the men’s golf program. • Supervise the recruitment strategy to attract top level, Division I prospects including identification, assessment, campus visits and implementation of campus resources. • Perform both direct and indirect public relations functions including promotion, fund raising, public speaking, community events, and through camps and/or clinics.
Minimum of three years coaching experience in collegiate men’s or women’s golf.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with and relate well to student-athletes, high school/club coaches and department support staff.
Demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes, particularly at the regional (Midwest) level.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate through oral, written and electronic forms.
Education and Experience Preferred
Competitive experience in golf on the university or college level.
Coaching experience at the Division I college level, or professional level.
