University of Oklahoma Athletics Department is looking to add an Assistant Director- Athletics Communications to serve as the primary communications contact for OU's softball and volleyball programs. This position will also serve in a supervisory role with research fellows and student assistants. Responsibilities are to create unique written content, features and releases, design media guides, compile statistics, oversee website and social media content, arrange media interviews, conduct interviews, travel to select away events, etc. as well as assisting in all aspects of office activity and in coverage of other sports and events as required.
Required Education: Bachelor Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:
Minimum 24 months of full-time experience in collegiate/professional communications
Strong graphic design background
Effective writing, editing, computer, organizational, interpersonal, oral communication and mentoring skills
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Statcrew statistical software
Ability to think creatively and engage a variety of stakeholders, particularly students and other on-campus groups
Able to work in a fast-paced environment that includes night and weekend hours.
Advertised Physical Requirements:
Must be able to engage in repetitive motion and communicate effectively.
Previous experience working with coaching staff and administrators on a daily basis is preferred.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts
Videography/digital photography experience
Supervision: 1-5 Staff
