This position is responsible for developing strategy for highly visible and public events on behalf of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics with the understanding that these events will include individuals from the public and private sector as well as Chicagoland media representation. The Director of Athletic Special Events oversees campus, community, and regional events with the goal of enhancing the engagement and stewardship of existing donors (major gift and annual) as well as attracting new donor prospects. Responsibilities include, developing strategy for the management of events and functions for the department, develop event budgets, preparing related cost estimates and cost benefit analysis, promote compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, perform other related duties and participate with special projects as assigned. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Marketing, Service & Hospitality, Business, or a related field required. Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in events management, development and/or alumni and/or fundraising events, preferable in a higher education, athletics/sports, or similarly complex institutional environment required. Understand Development, Donor Programs and Fundraising, including proper use of confidential information. Excellent communication and organization skills Must have an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations as it pertains to donors, boosters and extra benefits.
