Primary Purpose In collaboration with the Director of Athletics, the Associate Athletic Director (AD) for Development will develop and implement effective and comprehensive fundraising strategies to support Idaho State University's 15 intercollegiate sports. The position will oversee the Bengal Athletic Boosters, individual team sports clubs, annual giving, planned giving and major giving. The Associate AD for Development will manage a significant fundraising portfolio; and will be will be directly responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects. The position will raise funds from the University's natural constituencies including alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations. The successful candidate for this position should have a distinguished record of personal engagement and achievement in advanced annual giving, major/principal gifts and/or campaigns. Three to five years of progressively responsible and successful fundraising experience, preferably in athletics and higher education, is desired. Successful candidates will display an unusual ability to build effective relationships with a diverse group of key internal and external constituents and will demonstrate capability of enhancing team performance.
The position requires a travel commitment of approximately 50%.
Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major gift prospects for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Develops and maintains a portfolio of 150 major gift prospects.
Works with Athletic Department Leadership Team and Head Coaches to develop and coordinate special campaigns.
Keeps accurate and complete records of moves management process and follows prescribed strategies for cultivating, soliciting and acting as a steward of major gifts. Records all actions and relationships in Raisers Edge.
Coordinates activities and collaborates positively with the University Development Office, unit Development Officers, and the Office of Alumni Relations to effectively cultivate support and build relationships which advance the mission of Idaho State University and the Department of Athletics.
Coordinates with the Director of Athletics in the effective management of their respective prospect portfolios. Engages the Director of Athletics with prospects at all levels strategically and appropriately.
Execute cultivation opportunities for Athletic Department and University major gift prospects through the effective use of Idaho State University Athletic Events. Facilitate appropriate engagement of the Office of Advancement in these opportunities and ensure the proper planning and execution of donor and prospect travel with teams, attendance at hosted events and competitions, and engagement of prospects and alumni at game day, university and other public events.
Works within a system of metrics including benchmarks of 220 personal visits, 25 major gift solicitations and a prescribed number of new prospects identified annually. The Director of Athletics and the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Development will work to achieve an annual fundraising goal.
Develop and implement a stewardship to appropriately acknowledge gifts at all levels, provide donors with appropriate information, recognition and engagement.
Facilitate the engagement of Head Coaches in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of charitable gifts. Ensure up to date and effective solicitation materials, thank you letters and related materials at all times.
Manage Team Sports Clubs and ensure annual solicitations and stewardship occurs in a systematic way. Evaluate effectiveness of these programs and implement changes and enhancements.
Assist in the management, evaluation of and coordination of all fundraising events.
Oversee the Executive Director of the Bengal Athletic Boosters (BAB) and support the annual fundraising efforts of the BAB. Engage with, educate, and facilitate the fundraising efforts of the Bengal Athletic Boosters Board of Directors.
Grow the Dealer Courtesy Car Program. Keep contracts up to date, facilitate the proper level of engagement of coaches and staff who have courtesy cars, and ensure proper that contract deliverables are met.
Assist in the development and execution of Department and University Capital and Comprehensive Campaigns.
Develop and/or oversee development of effective fundraising materials including annual giving pieces, telephone scripts, crowdfunding messages, articles, recognitions, stewardship pieces, thank you letters, and other messaging.
Serve as a Sports Administrator for one or more selected teams, as appointed by the Director of Athletics
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Five years of experience in athletics administration, university development, or a related field.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
Strong computer and technical skills to support high utilization of various university systems, institutional and national databases, Big Sky Conference and NCAA portals and resources, and other technology based tools and subscriptions.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, successful experience in university athletics development including annual, major, and planned gifts.
Masters Degree in athletics administration or related field.

Salary has been approved at $72,000 - $76,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. Includes a competitive benefits package.
