Oberlin College Department of Athletics & Physical Education seeks a Head Coach of Field Hockey. This is a full-time, 12-month, continuing, Administrative and Professional Staff position, reporting to the Delta Lodge Director of Athletics and Physical Education and Vice President of Athletics Advancement. Oberlin College is a highly selective, private, liberal arts institution with a world-renowned Conservatory of Music.
The Head Coach of Field Hockey is responsible for all aspects of coaching, recruiting and administering the field hockey program along with being a relentless supporter of Oberlin College and its athletics department. The incumbent will also have a secondary administrative position and teaching responsibilities within the physical education curriculum and/or wellness programming. The program will be conducted in compliance with policies, procedures and regulations of the College, the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Bachelor’s degree required, a master’s degree is preferred; five years coaching and/or relevant competitive experience; solid administrative skills and the ability to communicate and motivate staff to achieve administrative goals; excellent written and oral communication skills; basic familiarity, appreciation and empathy with the role of intercollegiate athletics and its relationship to the College, and the capacity to articulate that role and interact comfortably with those individuals and constituency groups (student-athletes, alumni, coaches, parents, etc.) crucial to the advancement of athletics at Oberlin; high motivation with a capacity for hard work within the context of an intensely goal-oriented environment.
