This senior staff level position will oversee and manage the campus compliance team as well as work closely with the Faculty Athletic Representative in overseeing Department and Campus Compliance, including but not limited to; providing rules education to campus partners, prospective and incoming student-athletes, athletic department staff, current student-athletes and coaches. This position will attend team meetings to collaborate with Athletic Academic Services staff on pertinent topics and shared areas of responsibility.
This position ensures department compliance with the NCAA, Peach Belt Conference and Sunshine State Conference rules and regulations in regards to eligibility, satisfactory progress, initial-eligibility, financial aid and recruiting.
In addition this position, establishes and monitors the following:
a. Recruiting (logs, official/unofficial visits, tryouts) b. Seasons of Competition c. Student-Athlete Eligibility d. Play/Practice Seasons e. Routine audit procedure for compliance with NSU, Peach Belt Conference, NCAA, and SSC f. Serves as liaison with the admissions, registrar, and financial aid offices g. Serves as liaison to Sunshine State Conference concerning National Letter of Intent (NLI.) h. Responsible for the completion and distribution of National Letter of Intent for recruits i. Investigates preliminary stages of all possible violations of NCAA rules and regulations and submission of findings to NCAA, SSC, and NSU j. Aids in maintaining NSU Student-Athlete Handbook k. Maintains and administrate NCAA compliance assistant software (CA) l. NCAA Initial Eligibility Center Liaison (LSDBi) m. Responsible for the completion of Student-Athlete eligibility form for NCAA and SSC (Eligibility Lists, Financial Aid Reporting Form, etc.) n. Attendance at meetings, conferences, and appropriate seminars to keep informed of compliance, Title IX, and associate wide issues (NCAA and SSC)
This position will also track department and sport budgets for athletic financial aid including:
a. Working with Coaches on Athletic Award Letters b. Authorizes changes in Scholarships and Athletic Award Letters c. Verifies original Athletic Award Letters for accuracy before delivering the letter to the Scholarship Department
This position will also implement and monitor use of ACS by department:
a. Integrates information from Admissions b. Inputs data and pulls reports as needed c. CARA log distribution and review d. Monitors and works with coaches to share functionality and integration
Lastly, this position provides NCAA/SSC/PBC rules interpretations in consultation with Associate AD, Conference Staff and NCAA Office; processes all waiver, violation and reinstatement requests through the NCAA RSRO system in consultation with Associate AD, Conference Staff and NCAA Office; and represents NSU with SSC Compliance Professionals, National Associations and NCAA Committees.
Two years experience in intercollegiate athletics required. Two years experience in compliance preferred.
