Reporting to the Executive Director and in partnership with the Board Chair, the Director of Development (DD) will spearhead development efforts as KOA Care Camps continues to grow. As a new position in the organization, the Director will have the opportunity to build the development function.
The Director of Development position requires a dynamic and creative front-line fundraiser responsible for securing and growing new income, developing relationships with major corporate, foundational, and/or individual sponsors. This position involved managing individual and corporate gifts, as well as planned and annual giving campaigns.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Develop and oversee our annual fundraising programs
Liaison with the RV Industry including development calls and emails.
Support all aspects of fundraising and volunteer management, including preparing solicitations, materials, speeches, and presentations.
Responsible for revenue generation and goal achievement
Draft proposals, resources, and other written materials.
Keep detailed records of all donor contacts, including unsuccessful attempts
Identify potential donors through research and qualification.
Management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions
Develop print marketing collateral related to fundraising in collaboration with our advertising
Build donor pipeline and establishes a portfolio of prospects
Research and propose fundraising opportunities through various development techniques.
Deliver organized, structured, and persuasive presentations, using effective written and verbal communication.
Build relationships and accountability systems to ensure supporters are engaged and our mission is clearly articulated.
Research trends in giving, both internally and sector-wide, relevant causes and issues, recommends the appropriate course(s) of action.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of 5 – 8 years of professional fundraising and/or sales experience.
Experience working with Foundations and writing grant proposals
Experience working in a non-profit environment preferred.
Familiar with Donor Pro Database or similar platforms.
Demonstrates excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Occasional domestic travel may be required.
Proven Success in Sales & Development
Telecommuting is allowed.
