This position will provide the majority of written communications in support of key donor engagement, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Creates content under time deadlines including writing, editing, and managing web content, digital communication, and printed communications such as impact reports and proposals for 7-figure and 8-figure gifts. This position is key to providing a rewarding donor experience and surpassing constituent expectations with the goal of effectively acquire and retain donors at the highest levels.
Develops and writes content for proposals and progress/impact reports for 7-figure and 8-figure prospects and donors, sometimes under intense time deadlines.
Collaborates with on and off-campus partners to gather information related to proposals and reporting.
Serves as the lead on developing new, creative, highly personal communications for 7-figure and 8-figure prospects and donors.
Directs creation and upkeep of online donor resources and stewardship including any required vendor relationships.
Manages projects and ensures accurate and timely execution in coordination with colleagues in institutional advancement, volunteer leaders, faculty, staff and students.
Partners with the IA Communications manager to promote positive working relationships and efficient workflow.
Develops content that supports the mission and brand of the University.
Writes scripts and programs for special donor events tailoring the voice and tone for each speaker, including the University President, volunteer leaders and other program participants.
FUNDRAISING AND CAMPAIGN SUPPORT:
In coordination with the principal gifts and special projects team, leads all communication efforts for 7-figure and 8-figure prospects and donors tracking for consistency, precision and originality.
Partners with faculty to develop content for principal gift proposals, updates to volunteer leaders and blog posts.
Supports communication efforts by gift officers as they build relationships with 7-figure and 8-figure prospects and donors by editing and proofreading high level donor communications in a timely fashion and at times under tight timelines.
Manage the plan for campaign communication, both electronic and print pieces. Coordinate with multiple internal and external contributors ensuring the best possible experience for volunteer leaders and the highest quality communications.
Support institutional leaders by crafting highly personalized letters to 7-figure and 8-figure prospects and donors ensuring personalized voices and tailored messaging.
Create templates for gift proposals, donors impact communications, engagement and stewardship that are of the highest possible quality and stand out for the most affluent of audiences.
Manage highly personal proposal content for 7-figure and 8-figure prospects and donors signaling to the division how to find, utilize and record for future use.
Help organize and maintain a consistent and strategic communication plans for principal gift prospects and donors throughout the donor cycle.
Partner with the Advancement Communications Manager ensuring a clear separation of responsibilities and partnership across the division.
PRINT AND DIGITAL MEDIA:
Create, implement and manage digital online donor resources for donors at the highest level. Lead listening, content development, engagement and measurement of this tool communicating effectively with colleagues across the IA division.
Write, edit and produce white papers and proposals that are on the cutting edge in advancement work to share with 7-figure and 8-figure prospects and donors pertaining to their specific areas of interest.
Manage any online content in support of Principal Gifts and Special Projects ensuring content is up-to-date and links are working, working with technology department to manage all electronic communication outlets.
Craft tailored messaging and lead production of materials for print and/or e-mail distribution for the highest level prospective and current donors.
Bachelor's degree required, preferred major/minor in English, communications, marketing, journalism or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years related experience.
Demonstrates a polished professional character.
Excellent communication skills: ability to speak to groups; communicate in writing, and listening skills with the ability to translate the expectations of a colleague or campus partner.
Ability to collaborate with Advancement colleagues and University departments.
Strong technical skills (both systems and design).
Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail, placing a high value on accuracy and precision.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
