Union College, a liberal arts institution located in Schenectady, New York is accepting applications for the position of part time Athletics Communications Assistant/Fraternity and Sorority Life Assistant. Union is an NCAA multi-classified institution that sponsors 26 intercollegiate sports. Twenty-four programs compete in the Division III Liberty League, while men’s and women’s ice hockey compete in the Division I ECAC Hockey League.
This position will assist the Athletics Communications Director and a full-time assistant in the coverage of Union’s 26 varsity sports. Duties include primary coverage of assigned sports, website management, social media, publication design, multimedia production, live video setup and archiving, game notes, and student worker supervision.
This individual will also act as a Fraternity and Sorority Life Assistant. Reporting to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, duties will include advising assigned chapters, oversight of social events to ensure compliance with Greek Life policies and assisting in new member education process.
The position is expected to devote 20 hours per week to Athletics Communications and 5 hours per week to Fraternity and Sorority Life. Compensation will include an hourly rate plus college housing (valued at $7,323 per year), and a student meal plan (valued at $5,538 per year). Must be available to work evenings and weekends.

A bachelor’s degree and collegiate Athletics Communications experience are required. Knowledge of Stat Crew, NCAA Live Stats and/or Presto stats software, experience in publication software (Adobe InDesign and Photoshop), new media and video highly recommended. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills needed. Candidates must have an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations, and must be able to work with a diverse group of students and staff.
