Director of Development for the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, Posting # AP0190147
The Director of Development for the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC will solicit philanthropic gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of the Research Institute which align with the strategic priorities. This highly motivated professional will be involved with the planning and implementation of the major gift fund raising efforts in support of current operations, endowment, capital, and other priorities from private sources. They will fulfill the duties under the direction of their supervisor in close cooperation with the University's central advancement office.
Reporting jointly to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement, Roanoke and to the Vice President for Health Sciences and Technology, the Director of Development will:
Assist with fund-raising activities for the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute within designated time frames.
Travel, on average, five to eight days per month to cultivate, solicit, steward, and identify prospects for the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute.
Have a portfolio of approximately 100 – 125 prospects.
Have a typical solicitation range of $100,000 to $1,000,000.
On a yearly basis, close $1,000,000 per year using a three-year rolling average.
Close on average 10 – 13 major gifts per fiscal year.
Provide strategic direction and coordination for the Fralin Partners advisory committee.
Develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies which include building, managing, and soliciting a portfolio of major gift prospects.
Establish strong working relationships with central advancement, collegiate and constituent development officers and the College staff to foster a productive work environment.
Work closely with the Assistant Vice President of Advancement for Roanoke, department heads, program and center directors to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies in support of their programs.
