Muhlenberg College, a Division III institution and a member of the Centennial Conference is seeking applications for a Softball Head Coach opening. Coaching and/or collegiate playing experience and a four year college degree are required. Advanced degree is preferred.
This person, under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, plans and manages all phases of the intercollegiate softball program. This 12-month appointment will be eligible to all benefits available to full-time members of the College staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and manage a competitive NCAA Division III program in accordance with College, NCAA and Centennial Conference policies.
Provide competent coaching, along with the necessary counsel and direction, which will ensure that student-athletes have the opportunity to realize their potential as athletes, students and members of the general college community.
Create positive support for the program within the campus community and outside constituencies including alumni, parents and friends of Muhlenberg College.
Recruit qualified student-athletes.
Hire and supervise coaching staff.
Assume a secondary assignment commensurate with abilities, interests and departmental needs.
Actively participate in fundraising activities in support of the program and the Cardinal and Grey Fund.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and coaching experience required; advanced degree preferred.
Teaching and athletics administration background preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics.
Excellent communication skills required.
Strong planning and organizational skills essential.
Capacity to market the sport to the various constituencies of the College.
Ability to work with a wide variety of people.
Must be available to travel, have a valid driver's license, be able to drive for the purpose of college business, and be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
