The first ESD class was held in 1974 and included eight 7th graders. Today, more than 1,150 students attend ESD, aged Beginner (age 3) through 12th grade, with 400 students in the Upper School (9th – 12th grade). Built upon our Founding Tenets of Daily Worship, Community, Ethical Decision-Making, and Service, ESD is committed to the intellectual, spiritual and physical wellness of every member of its community.
ESD’s gifted faculty and staff are the backbone of our institution and paramount to the school’s success. They are committed to inspiring, developing, and sustaining excellence, and are deftly able to balance the rigors of a college-preparatory environment with nurture and compassion. More than 200 serve the ESD community and all are appreciated and respected for their individual and collective contributions.
