Involves developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning (dollars), and control of organizational budget. Analyzes and prepares recommendations for financial plans, including annual resource allocations, future requirements, and operating forecasts.
The Athletics Business Operations Manager provides oversight of accounting and financial reporting functions, as well as policy implementation and oversight for the Department of Athletics and Recreation. This position involves developing, interpreting, and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning, and control of organization's budget. Analyzes and prepares recommendations for financial plans, including annual resource allocations, future requirements, and operational forecasts. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet those goals. Responsible for supervising the day-to-day unit activities. Normally directs a section or group of budget / financial / resources analysts. Oversees and participates in the most complex projects and coordinates directly with major department managers. Provides direction according to established policies and management guidance. Must have an Interest in and passion for students and intercollegiate athletics.
Situated on 2,000 acres among the redwoods and overlooking the Monterey Bay, UC Santa Cruz serves nearly 18,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Department of Athletics and Recreation is comprised of 15 varsity sports programs, competitive and recreational club sports, and recreational programming for the campus as well as the community.
This position reports to the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience and training.
Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems, budgeting and reporting techniques, accounting and bookkeeping.
Three to five years of high-level financial and intercollegiate athletics administrative experience.
Solid understanding of financial and resource planning concepts as well as how to control organizational budgeting.
Strong leadership skills and ability to develop consensus in sensitive and confidential situations.
