Full-Time Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Central Washington University - Ellensburg, WA
POSITION PURPOSE: Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the Women’s Basketball Program.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Assist the Head Coach with Teaching and Coaching •Assist with the organization, planning and implementation of daily practices. •Direct on-court coaching responsibilities (as assigned by the head coach) •Assist with the development and improvement of player skills. Work with individual players before and after practice, when requested. •Film break down - evaluate game by game offense, defense, and player personnel. Watch and critique film with players as a team and individually. •Prepare scouting report for assigned opponents and present the report to the coaching staff and team when requested.
2.Recruiting •Pass the NCAA Coaches’ recruiting test annually. •Assist in the identification and recruiting of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes for admission to the University with adherence to admissions and athletic department policies and procedures. •Identify and evaluate high school and junior college talent through evaluation at games, tournaments, and film. •Phone conversations with prospects, high school coaches and club coaches. •Plan and coordinate home, unofficial, and official visits •Attend high school games & assigned summer tournament sites •Respond to lead and inquiries in a timely manor
3.Scouting •Assist head coach with the scouting of opponents. •Watch tape of opponents requested by the head coach •Provide detailed, written reports, and include information on offenses, defenses and individual tendencies, and any other information requested by the head coach. •Establish a film exchange program and provide tapes of as many scheduled opponents as possible. Respond to film requests from other programs when appropriate. •Scout team. Put opponent's offense together for simulation.
4.Camp Coordination •Assist head coach with the promotion, coordination, planning, & execution of camps. 5.Travel Coordination •Assist Head Coach with the planning, coordination, and execution of all team travel.
6.General Assignments •Involvement with administrative and organizational aspect of an NCAA Division II program under the supervision of the head coach. •Submit countable athletically related activities report to the compliance office at the end of each month. •Knowledge of and adherence to all University, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations, policies and procedures, with special attentions to recruiting, eligibility, admissions, and financial aid. •Enforce University and athletic department policies and regulations with regard to use/abuse of alcohol and drugs by team members. •Assistant and perform duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Administrator.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 1.Bachelor’s Degree 2.At Least two years of basketball coaching experience or playing experience at the college level 3.Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
