The Associate Director, Athletics & Recreation assists the Director, Athletics & Recreation in all aspects of the daily operation of the department. The Associate Director is chiefly responsible for administering a comprehensive NCAA compliance program, management of the department budget, and management of the Babson Skating Center. The Associate Director serves as part of the Athletics senior leadership team and may be called upon to act on behalf of the Director as needed.
Direct athletic department compliance with all NCAA, Conference and College rules and regulations which includes minimizing the College's potential liability by ensuring that all coaches and staff adhere to published and communicated regulations; conducting annual Division III Coaches Test and developing, supervising and leading a comprehensive educational program for all athletic staff members; investigating and reporting any violations to Babson officials and the appropriate governing authority; and coordinating and conducting annual rules and eligibility training for student-athletes.
Monitor NCAA initial and continuing eligibility, as well as academic progress of student-athletes; maintains close contact with Class Deans and Registrar as needed.
Work in conjunction with Director to develop and oversee annual operating budget for Athletic and Recreation Programs ($3-4M).
Negotiate all part time coach's contracts (approximately 30-40 per season) and interface with Human Resources as needed.
Oversee all operations of the Babson Skating center including scheduling, rental agreements, billing, and appropriate record keeping for all external clients. Serve as a resource for the Assistant Manager with day to day operations of the Rink. Work closely with the Assistant Manager, Skating Rink to identify potential new revenue opportunities.
Supervise departmental reporting to the Federal Government and NCAA to include the EADA report, graduation rate data, sports sponsorship, demographic, and financial aid data.
Oversee all operations of the Equipment Room for through purchase, repair, inventory, proper securing, and supervision of Equipment Room manager.
Oversee all departmental daily operations including scheduling and busing.
Develop and oversee assessment instruments intended to evaluate the impact of intercollegiate, club, and recreational activities on student life including but not limited to: annual student-athlete exit surveys, GPA assessment
Manage the daily business operations of the department and interface with the Business Office as needed.
Serve on NEWMAC, regional and NCAA committees; represent the department at Conference meetings; and serve on standing and ad hoc committees directly and indirectly related to Athletics.
Manage the annual update and distribution of the departmental procedures manual.
Establish and maintain relationship with appropriate regional and national athletics associations.
Advise students on general and sport-related matters. Refers students to appropriate sources, as necessary.
Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management.
