Assistant Athletic Director (Assistant Athletic Director for Applied Health and Performance Science)
Penn State is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Applied Health and Performance Science to lead and develop a novel and innovative training and monitoring methodologies that will serve to make the Penn State Applied Health and Performance Science Program world class in its approach to student-athlete wellness, injury prevention, recovery, physical preparation and performance. Responsible for the strategic leadership, and ongoing review of all applied health and performance science practices to sports to ensure program success and achievement of program goals. Coordinate research efforts, and lead initiatives in collaboration with university and industry partners including faculty and students for the development of innovative approaches to the improvement of student-athlete health and performance. Manage budget needs for all health and performance initiatives including but not limited to the implementation of hardware and software technology, recruitment of staff and general program sustainability. Direct the supervision of interns and maintain an effective working relationship with all associates, stake holders, coaches and practitioners. This job will be filled as a level 4, or level 5, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 4. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Master's Degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology or other related academic disciplines preferred. Additional years of experience with high performing athletes also preferred. Additional years leading an integrated applied health and sport science program preferred. Must be familiar with cutting edge technology in sports. This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job responsibilities. A valid driver's license and completion of a successful motor vehicle records check will be required for this position.
