The firm was founded by Richard E. Fagan, CPA as a solo-practitioner in 1976. We are a generational/family firm and have served the needs of many of our clients for multiple decades. We work very hard to stay on the cutting edge of technology and the accounting industry as a whole.
Our Ideal Candidate has been working as a full-charge bookkeeper and/or staff accountant handling full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients across multiple industries for three or more years, with an Accounting Degree/Enrolled Agent or CPA license. We’re looking for self-starters who are trustworthy, reliable, intelligent, fast-learners, tech-savvy, and experienced. This is NOT an entry-level job.
We’re looking for an extremely organized and detail oriented accounting professional to manage monthly & quarterly clients from data-entry to custom financial reporting and to assist in the preparation and filing of annual income tax returns.
We’re currently using QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online for all client bookkeeping & payroll. We use Lacerte for income tax preparation. We use Sharefile for document sharing, along with several other cloud applications.
We are a small business, and therefore the day-to-day duties may fluctuate and change depending on the needs of the organization. Generally, you will provide the following services:
You will provide Full-Cycle Bookkeeping, Payroll, & Tax services for multiple clients in multiple industries (restaurant, prof services, construction, etc) and ensure that all services are completed in a timely & accurate manner.
You will manage client correspondence and communicate professionally with clients, client's vendors, customers, and tax agencies.
You will prepare tax returns: 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 990, etc. and all relevant state forms.
You will prepare sales tax returns, payroll tax returns, forms 1099, 571-L, annual reports, WC audit reports, and any other general compliance forms.
You will review, analyze, & respond to tax notices and provide audit representation.
You will review and prepare month-end-close, including adjusting entries for cash/accrual/other, complete Bank, Cash, Credit Card, Loan, Tax Liabilities & Merchant Account Reconciliations, and complete Data-Entry, Transaction Posting, Job Costing, Class Coding & Journals for the period.
You will Process & Follow up on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
You will Prepare Loan amortization schedules and Manage Fixed Assets, Cash Flow, Owner/Officer Compensation ledgers
You will Process Payroll & Federal, State, and Local Payroll Tax Returns
You will Manage Vendor W-9s. Prepare & issue 1099s.
You will Manage Employee information & documentation (payroll-related only)
You will Complete other Special Projects & Analysis as Necessary
You will promptly respond to both internal and external Emails, Phone Calls, and chat messages collaborating with the Team and clients (ask questions, answer questions, share ideas)
You will Maintain Clients Accounting Records internally and on Sharefile (cloud storage)
You will Attend Team Meetings & Supervisor Check-ins
You will contribute to the overall success of the organization by maintaining the highest standard of work, conduct, and enthusiasm.
You will be friendly, happy, and excited to assist your clients to build a better business.
We will train you on our systems, procedures, best practices & each client’s specific account; but we expect that you’ve met the following requirements before applying:
Minimum 3 Years of QuickBooks OR similar software experience
Minimum 3 Years of experience working with multiple small businesses at once
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
Professional License(s) (CPA, EA, CGMA, CPB, etc.)
Working Knowledge of GAAP, Industry Standards and Best Practices
Working Knowledge of Business Tax Returns (1120, 1065 and 1040 Sch C & E)
Strong Excel & Data manipulation/analysis skills
Strong problem solving & critical thinking skills
Self-starter that is goal oriented and self-disciplined
Great Communication – both written and verbal
Excellent Computer skills
Able to prioritize work according to deadlines
Professional demeanor and appearance
Ability to quickly learn new applications and procedures
Small-firm Experience is a plus
