Food on Foot is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting our homeless and low-income neighbors in Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and a fresh start through a life-skills education, full-time employment, and permanent housing.
After more than 20 years of service and 3 years of steep growth, Food on Foot is seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Director with proven experience developing, cultivating and implementing individual fundraising plans. Working in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Food on Foot team, the Deputy Director will further develop and implement the organization’s revenue strategy and targets. Main tasks will consist of cultivating current donors, conducting donor prospect analysis, developing fundraising targets, executing approved fundraising initiatives, participating in grant maker research and grant writing, fundraising event planning, and acting as a key relationship liaison.
Our volunteer and donor service programs are held from 3pm to 6pm every Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine. The incoming Deputy Director will be required to attend service programs to engage with volunteers, donors, and clients.
We're a small team of immersed, passionate, and committed individuals disrupting the traditional homeless services model. Our donors agree, and many commit to our ongoing service and growth through Food on Foot’s $98 Club which sustains a solid base of funding. Currently, 575 Club members donate a minimum of $98 / month through this Club membership.
You're an energetic, passionate and experienced development professional with a wide-range of fundraising accomplishments under your belt. You're a strategist, strong at creating and determining development strategies and action plans, but you’re also skilled at communicating them to colleagues and constituents alike including our committed club members, volunteers, and business partners. Then, you take action, leveraging our relationships to take us to the next level. Also, you’re bringing your industry-best standards to our operations, helping us create stronger community relations, building our board, and enhancing the infrastructure and management practices within Food On Foot.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain, strengthen, and grow our generous community of annual donors by developing a stewardship program, including efforts such as special events, direct mail, and website/email/social media campaigns.
Cultivate existing relationships and develop a strategy that encourages individuals to participate at new and increased levels, to involve their networks and to optimize their lifetime value as investors.
Develop and execute a well-designed stewardship plan designed to kickstart a comprehensive major donors plan.
Track revenue and the associated metrics, and report this data to senior management.
Manage the implementation, maintenance, and utilization of the donor database and CRM for donor management.
Forge and maintain relationships and strategies to build the organization’s visibility, impact, and financial resources.
Establish contacts, build relationships, and present key asks to the business community to support food on foot’s financial well-being and aspects of our work for food program.
Be our subject matter expert, working to train our team on best practices for donor relations, stewardship, infrastructure and fundraising goals and communicate progress throughout the entire organization.
Create and implement Board recruitment and development strategies.
Proven success in fund development for non-profit and experience executing on revenue goals from multiple donor channels.
Record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in other fundraising endeavors.
Outstanding interpersonal skills; maintaining productive working relationships with colleagues, board members, donors, and foundations.
Experience in planning, leading, and managing revenue goals, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to executive team.
Outstanding written and spoken communication skills.
Ability to convey complex ideas cogently and concisely.
Experience with DonorSearch and Salesforce.
Ability to work Saturday and Sunday.
