Waldorf University is seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position of Sports Information Graduate Assistant. The Sports Information Department Graduate Assistant will learn to do all the primary and secondary duties of the Sports Information Department. The goal for the SID GA will be to become proficient in all areas during their time with the Waldorf Sports Information Department so they will be able to run their own department in the future. While the SID GA will learn to do game stats, write press releases, and coordinate all aspects of game management, the major role during games and events will be to oversee the video broadcast and play-by-play, along with videography and production of game highlights. This entails training work-study students in broadcasting and play-by-play, as well as video-camera operation and highlight production for games. Waldorf University is a NAIA program located in Forest City, Iowa and participates in the North Start Athletic Association Conference. The selected Graduate Assistant will receive an online graduate tuition waiver, a $1,000 stipend per month over each 9mo period, and optional housing arrangements in a residence hall. Assistantship Schedule • August / September through April / May over two years (two 9 month periods)
The SID GA should have an undergraduate degree in the field of communication, acceptance and admission into a graduate degree and assistantship program at Waldorf or Columbia Southern University. experience broadcasting, and experience in capturing video and video editing. The SID GA will work with the Sports Information Director to plan broadcasts and broadcasting staff, as well as highlights and other video projects. The SID GA, in cooperation with the Sports Information Director, should also work with the Communication Department at Waldorf to find Communication students eligible for work study to learn and gain experience broadcasting and in video highlight production.
Acceptable candidates must possess a strong work ethic, superb computer skills, excellent organizational skills, a dedication to students, an interest in pursuing a career in sports information or related field and a valid driver’s license
