The BIG EAST Conference seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director, Social and Digital Media. Based in New York City, this position is primarily responsible for the conference’s social and digital media content and execution, including all production and distribution of content on social media platforms, website, and the BIG EAST Digital Network. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the management of BEDN broadcast operations, playing a key role in the production of the Conference’s weekly studio show (Shootaround), assisting with the Fox Sports broadcast relationship, and developing creative and engaging content for all outlets. This position reports to the Associate Commissioner, Marketing and External Affairs.
Work collaboratively with broadcast, creative, and communications teams on the development and implementation of conference’s social/digital efforts.
Create and produce compelling digital media content, and identify most effective platforms for distribution.
Grow BIG EAST audience and engagement through social media on a year-round basis.
Effectively utilize social and digital media to advance the Conference’s brand and business initiatives.
Collaborate on a variety of projects with member schools and other key partners (Fox Sports, Madison Square Garden, Sidearm, etc.).
Manage the development and execution of impactful social/digital media campaigns surrounding high profile Conference events – media day, Olympic sport championships, men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, student-athlete programs, and other special events.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in Division I intercollegiate athletics or related setting.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute highly effective social/digital media campaigns.
Strong technical skills in the area of video production, graphic design elements, and social media graphic creation.
Understanding of current and emerging social/digital media platforms and how to evaluate their effectiveness with analytical tools.
Demonstrated record of developing positive working relationships with key partners, both internally and externally.
Proven ability to be a positive and productive member of a team.
Excellent communication skills – written, oral, and presentation.
Strong work ethic and problem solving abilities.
