Position Description Serving as a member of CCC’s senior staff, the Chief Development Officer will develop and execute fully integrated plans across all fundraising avenues to grow annual philanthropic support to approximately $4M by fiscal year 2022. This position reports to CCC’s Chief Operating Officer, and works closely with the President & Artistic Director, on fundraising initiatives. S/he will manage, lead and mentor a team of five development staff which currently includes: Director of Institutional Advancement, Corporate and Foundations Relations Manager (to be hired), Individual Giving Manager, Development Services Manager and Development Coordinator.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work closely with the Director of Institutional Advancement to develop and implement a fundraising plan that outlines monetary and activity goals for all areas of support, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation support, special events and alumni relations
Serve as lead solicitor for the organization, working closely with the President & Artistic Director and Chief Operating Officer to develop an active solicitation program
Strengthen CCC’s major gifts program by building relationships with a targeted segment of CCC’s donor base and other major gift prospects and moving them through all stages of the gift cycle, including cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
Identify opportunities, institutional capacities and resources for enhancing relationships with philanthropic, community and political leaders
Provide leadership to Director of Institutional Advancement and Individual Giving Manager in developing a solicitation program for lower-level donors and prospects
Provide staff support to Board of Directors and manage their solicitation activities
Staff the Development Committee of the Board of Directors and sit on the Marketing Committee, others as assigned
Recruit and manage volunteers for CCC fundraising event committees
Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to establish a comprehensive communication strategy–particularly as it relates to corporate and individual relations
Work closely with Chief Program Officer to leverage parent body for volunteers, donor prospect and advocacy
Create and staff high level cultivation and stewardship events
B.A. degree required
8-10 years professional development experience in a non-profit setting with demonstrated advancement in responsibilities
Proven ability to lead a team to achieve goals
Direct experience soliciting six figure gifts
Demonstrated experience in building a successful annual giving plan and infrastructure needed to achieve
Demonstrated experience procuring Foundation and Corporate support
Experience working effectively with Board of Directors
Excellent oral presentation and writing skills
