Serve as a key member of the Student-Athlete Development team and assist in the overall mission of preparing UT student-athletes for lifelong success. This position will be responsible for the service-learning aspect of student-athlete development and will oversee all community service/outreach events and initiatives. This position will also assist in the overall leadership and direction of S.A.A.C., as well as have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in developing, implementing, and facilitating personal and professional development programming.
This position may be required to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.This position m Some travel may be required.
Maintain existing community service events, initiatives, and relationships, as well as explore and implement new outreach opportunities and initiatives. Work with student-athletes, coaches, and community partners to fulfill specific outreach requests. Oversee and execute the communication and marking of all community service events/activities and ensure student-athletes, coaches, and staff are aware of all community service activities and additional campus and Austin community opportunities. Assist with the international service trip planning and execution. Track student-athlete participation and attendance to programs and events. Assist with creating, implementing, and facilitating personal development programming in the areas of mentorship, leadership, financial literacy/education, transitions, and personal branding. Assist with the leadership and oversight of the University of Texas Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and other student-athlete organizations. Provide 1-on-1 support for student-athletes in order to provide customized personal and professional development plans. Assist in the planning and execution of Longhorn Honors. Drive a UT or rental vehicle on and off campus. Performs other duties as assigned. May work on special projects as assigned by Director of Student-Athlete Development. Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, sport management/athletic administration, leadership, counseling or a related field. Two years of prior experience working in college athletics or working with college students. Experience working with collegiate students from a wide variety of educational and cultural backgrounds. Experience working with S.A.A.C. or other student-athlete leadership groups. Direct experience coordinating and executing community service events or programming. Demonstrated excellent oral and written presentation skills. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Master’s degree in education/educational leadership, psychology, sport management/athletic administration, college student development or other related field. Two years prior experience working with student-athletes and proven ability to engage and develop students at the collegiate level. Demonstrated professional experience in creating, planning, and establishing innovative programs and curriculum for student-athlete development. Two years prior experience working with NCAA Life Skills/Student-Athlete Development within student services or student-athlete development office. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Experience assisting students with leadership development and career readiness. Experience using platforms such as Teamworks, Handshake, and GamePlan. Ability to effectively facilitate workshops for small and large groups. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to communicate with diverse populations.
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
