Involves developing, promoting and supporting the operational and strategic aspects of intercollegiate student athlete programs, including planning, scheduling, budget administration and travel.
Uses advanced intercollegiate athletics concepts and campus objectives to resolve highly complex issues for a large operational unit. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Typically leads or supervises other staff or students.
The Department of Athletics & Recreation at University of California, Santa Cruz serves a student population of approximately 18,000 students and more than 3,500 faculty and staff. Programs offered include 15 NCAA DIII sports including tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball, track & field, cross country, swimming & diving, and golf serving about 380 student-athletes per year. The unit boasts an Intramural Sports program serving more than 2,000 unique participants each year. Sports Clubs is comprised of 37 clubs containing 945 active and approved participants. The Department of Athletics & Recreation also offers a wide variety of Outdoor Recreation programming as well as a group exercise and personal training programs. Athletics & Recreation at UC Santa Cruz is an integrated unit with shared facilities and a growing support staff.
Certifications: First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor with American Heart Association or Red Cross.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
A minimum of three (3) years-experience working in a collegiate athletic department or equivalent setting.
Advanced experience in operations management in Division III Intercollegiate Athletics.
Ability to perform all job duties in a manner consistent with NCAA conference and University rules, regulations, ordinances, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills.
