The University of South Florida (USF), a large, public global research university is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and accomplished manager and fundraising professional to join our team in the Advancement Department at USF’s Sarasota-Manatee as the Director of Development. The position is located on USF’s vibrant campus in the Sarasota-Manatee area.
Reporting to the Regional Vice Chancellor for Advancement & Alumni Relations, the successful candidate will be a highly organized and self-motivated fundraising professional known for working collaboratively within and across the development team and university community. The successful candidate will have a proven record of success in identifying, cultivating and securing major gifts from a variety of sources and will have experience working with diverse constituencies including alumni, corporation and foundation, and other entities. The Director will be a strategic leader and also be able to write effective proposals and meet the goals of the annual fundraising plans.
Bachelor’s degree required.
At least five years experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education
Demonstrable success in cultivating, soliciting and closing major gifts from local, regional and national prospects
Possess excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
Ability to build and sustain collaborative working relationships with campus/college academic leaders as well as external professional advisors
Master’s Degree preferred
Experience with major gift fundraising
Experience working in a higher educational system
The ability to work independently as well as part of a large university development team
Must be detail-oriented, analytical and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to simplify complex issues for greater understanding
