We have a senior consultant opening in the Financial Institutions Hedge Accounting team. The role is comprised of highly quantitative and technical accounting work and frequent consulting with clients at the highest levels of accounting and finance in their organizations. The work includes cutting-edge research in one of the most complex and still evolving areas of accounting. Individuals in this role have strong accounting skills and an interest in technical accounting (ASC 815/ASC 820). Individuals on this team spend time advising Financial Institutions ranging from approximately $1 billion to $150 billion in total assets on the most suitable hedging strategies, running and analyzing effectiveness tests, drafting hedge designation memos, creating inputs for future journal entries, and running and reviewing monthly reports for clients. Team members develop an excellent understanding not only of the accounting but also of the underlying economics of interest rate hedging, interacting daily with Chatham’s traders. Team members are responsible for all relationships with the clients in their assigned portfolio, directly communicating with CFOs or Heads of treasury, but there is constant collaboration and peer review prior to sending deliverables to clients.
We are looking to expand our team by hiring a select individual who will thrive in our culture and make a significant impact over the long term. For this particular role, we are looking for someone with at least 6 years (or more) of public accounting auditing or advisory experience in the financial services space, preferably with experience related to derivatives and hedge accounting under US GAAP.. We are in search of people who want to make consulting on financial instruments their career and have consistently demonstrated drive, determination, and substantial academic and professional accomplishment throughout their lives. Working with derivative instruments and hedge accounting requires excellent quantitative and technical accounting skills. We are looking for individuals who want to make a long-term commitment to Chatham. We make a large investment in each of our employees, and we hope that those who join us will be an integral part of our future growth and success.
