In support of this mission, Longwood University invites qualified candidates to apply for the Director of Video Operations / Media Specialist II position. The Director will be responsible for coordinating the production, integration, and distribution of all multimedia entities used with athletics and athletics venues.
•Oversee the production of Longwood’s 70+ annual broadcasts streaming on ESPN+
•Supervise and train a dedicated broadcast crew of 15+ student employees, including camera operators, replay technicians, directors and talent
•Serve as liaison to Big South Conference for all broadcasting and video production communication
•Produce highlight packages and melts for all broadcasts in a timely manner, as required by Big South Conference
•Coordinate the production of creative video content for distribution on various platforms including LongoodLancers.com and social media
•Assist with other video projects for the department, including but not limited to press conferences, promotional and highlight videos, and/or coaches or highlight shows
•Maintain archive of Longwood Athletics video content
•Assist the communications and marketing teams with special projects and events
•Other duties as assigned
•High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, video production, broadcasting or related field preferred
•Strong working knowledge of Adobe systems, Nevco Scoreboards, NetTek Tricasters, and the Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere editing systems as well as maintenance of these systems
•Experience producing video boards and professional media content
•Knowledge of or interest in intercollegiate athletics
•Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
•Ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted
•Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as well as meet time sensitive deadlines
Pay band 3. This is a restricted-classified position, which means the position will be available only as long as funding is available. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position.
