Coordinator, Academic Support Services for Men’s and Women’s Basketball The University of Akron Akron, OH
•Coordinator Academic Support Services for Men's and Women's Basketball will coordinate in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) and monitor all study tables for all M/W basketball. Schedule student-athlete study groups throughout the semester. Meet with the Assistant Director of SAAS to discuss academic updates. Collaborate with the Assistant Director of SAAS to assist with scheduling and NCAA eligibility for M/W basketball. Provide timely feedback to coaches regarding academics. Notify coaching staff of daily updates (missed tutoring, academic meetings, and positive feedback). Attend weekly meetings with coaches and generate reports with all academic information pertinent to student academic progress. Conduct scheduled academic meetings with student-athletes. Provide content support to student-athletes and make recommendations for subject based tutoring appointments in collaboration with the Learning Specialist/Tutor Coordinator. •Travel to games as necessary. Track class absence/travel forms. Participate in basketball recruiting visits and activities. •Correspond with professors via email and meet during office hours as needed.
Required Qualifications: •Requires a Bachelor's degree. •Requires a minimum of two years of experience in tutoring and/or assisting students with their daily academics and development of study skills. •Proficient with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, internet and email required. •Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required. Master's degree preferred.
