The Development Manager will manage donor management, grant and foundation applications and the annual sponsorship program. This position is responsible for sourcing and developing grant opportunities and achieving annual revenue targets related to the ECI Integrity Leader Program and other fundraising campaigns. The Development Manager will be responsible for donor stewardship and communications, in addition to managing and tracking donor benefits and revenue metrics.
Develop and grow foundation grant funding by researching prospects and finding new foundation and government funding sources to support existing ECI programs.
Write effective grant applications, develop outlines, timelines, templates and budgets.
Monitor outstanding grant proposals and manage deadlines, and follow up requirements.
Administer fulfillment of reporting requirements.
Assist in managing donor activities associated with the annual campaign, fundraising events, and other development campaigns, appeals and programs.
Monitor all donor and sponsor agreements to ensure recognition, benefit and acknowledgement requirements are met.
Write solicitation/thank you letters, development reports and marketing materials.
Manage and ensure accuracy of the donor database in SalesForce, develop grants and proposals, process donations, and oversee donor stewardship and cultivation.
Conduct research on prospective donors, sponsors, and award nominees.
Support VP Development in the completion of projects and any work assignments as requested.
Supports the effort to reach sponsor revenue targets through creation of sponsor opportunity packages, development of prospect lists and an annual solicitation strategy, referred to as the ECI Integrity Leader program.
Manage conference and special event sponsorship and exhibitor relations, including cultivating, stewarding and communicating with sponsors, exhibit planning, on site management and required follow up.
Administer the RFP and contracting process for the annual conference exhibit hall show company and serve as its main point of contact.
Process online and check donations by entering payments in donor management software, preparing charitable donation receipts and acknowledgement letters.
Work with the Marketing and Communications department to meet Development’s marketing needs.
Represent the association at industry trade shows, conferences, and events where opportunities for sponsor development exist.
Occasional travel to attend events.
Other duties as required as part of the ECI team may include answering phones, assisting the research team in processing surveys, assisting the events team as needed, etc.
At least 3+ years of grant research and writing or relevant experience in a nonprofit environment including direct, hands-on experience with fundraising, donor management and exhibit/sponsorship sales.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably with emphasis in communications, English, or a related field of study.
Highly proficient in business applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, SalesForce, BoardEffect).
Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion with respect to board, donor, sponsor and prospect information.
Self-motivated, organized, energetic, with a professional manner.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong relationship-building skills.
Ability to think strategically while managing hands-on the day-to-day functions of the development program.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, ability to be flexible while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as an effective, helpful part of a team.
Ability to interact comfortably and appropriately with board members, VIPs and special guests.
Excellent writing, editing and proof reading skills.
Must be willing to work on site at the Vienna VA office.
