Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full time Development Writer & Coordinator position based in Portland, ME. Reporting to the Foundation Relations Manager, the primary responsibilities for this position are 1) writing proposals, handouts, and other materials for the Major Gifts Team to help secure and steward major gifts; 2) playing a crucial cross-departmental role in collecting and synthesizing programmatic information from throughout the organization for a variety of Development uses; and 3) writing foundation grant proposals and reports and maintaining an ongoing relationship with a portfolio of grantmakers.
Additional responsibilities include compiling research on foundations and family foundations; representing PPNNE at foundation events; collecting and organizing agency services data and public health data; updating information in the foundation database; and providing general support and other work as needed to assist the Foundations Relations Manager and Major Gifts Team.
Desired qualifications include 3 or more years of professional work experience (1 year minimum); superior written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and changing environment; and an exceptionally professional and respectful manner in working with people of all backgrounds, including patients, donors, physicians, trustees, and staff members of all professional levels. Candidates must be comfortable with MS Office applications and be able to create visually appealing tables and graphs in Excel and do simple design work in Publisher. Candidates must be able and willing to travel regionally for occasional meetings and events.
