Provides counseling and performance services to varsity student-athletes in the Athletics Department within Sports Medicine. Athletic counseling services include psycho social assessments, mental health counseling, crisis intervention, team based work, and prevention efforts. The Athletic Counselor is a part of the sports medicine team and an integral member of the interdisciplinary team that includes sport psychologists, athletic trainers, team physicians, dietitians, strength coaches, administrators, excellence academy staff and academic counselors.
Master’s degree in mental health counseling, social work, or allied field and two years of experience in counseling.
License to practice in Indiana-LCSW. LMHC or relevant licensure. Ability to successfully work with an ethnically and culturally diverse client population. Understanding of the Athletics Department culture. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Proficient in computer software/programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office products, EMR (Titanium), and other systems related to clinical activity. Team building and conflict management skills.
