We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Corporate Controller who will report to the CFO. The controller will lead accounting, financial reporting, and tax activities and implement controls, processes, and systems to enable us to meet operational, reporting and audit requirements as we rapidly scale. This critical position is responsible for directing the financial reporting for internal and external requirements and leading the internal control framework and risk management processes that ensure the Company has robust financial controls in place. Within this function, the Controller is responsible for the timely, accurate and relevant reporting of the Company's financial performance and position in compliance with U.S. GAAP, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, coordinating external financial audits, and leading tax, treasury and risk management activities. Also, this position participates in activities of the team in various areas such as capital raising, business analysis, compliance, legal, taxation, and internal audit.
You are self-motivated, hands-on, and strategic. In this role, you will work closely with management, maintain the relationship with our offshore accounting support team, drive the close process, prepare weekly and monthly reporting, and build and lead the corporate accounting function and organization.
Oversee the accounting operations of the Company, to include the production of internal and external financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Company's reported financial results, and ensure accurate and timely processing of payables, cash control and general ledger postings
Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, and reports required by key stakeholders and investors
Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including consolidation and reporting
Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain a world-class organization of accounting and operational finance professionals
Advise senior management and others on short- and long-term financial objectives, and identify and implement opportunities to improve business processes and utilize tools to improve efficiencies
Establish and maintain effective and efficient internal controls over accounting and financial reporting functions including documentation of accounting and control policies
Drive maximum return on resources by establishing policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Lead the treasury management function including cash planning/forecasting, liquidity management, and debt compliance
Provide technical accounting support on new and complex transactions and work cross-functionally to advise on accounting implications to determine business decisions
Support external audit activity as required and manage the relationship with our independent auditor
A minimum of 10 years of progressive finance and accounting management experience, ideally with a technology company, e.g., gig economy, SaaS, or retail technology
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Big 4 or national accounting firm auditing experience, preferably with a minimum of five years
CPA designation preferred
Expert-level knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting principles (especially Revenue Recognitionand the analysis and reporting of financial data
Ability to design and implement best practices, controls, processes, and systems
Experience working with private, VC-funded technology startups through various stages of growth and scale
Articulate and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
Very high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to hit the ground running – a self-directed self-starter who can thrive in a hyper-growth mid-stage startup environment
Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Excel required; familiarity with NetSuite and proficiency with a diverse set of financial systems preferred
