Position Summary Susquehanna is seeking a new director of athletics to lead a department of 71 talented coaches and staff, who are deeply committed to NCAA Division III athletics and the scholar-athlete model within the Landmark Conference and the Centennial Conference (football). More than 600 River Hawks student-athletes field 23 varsity sports teams.
The new director of athletics will have the opportunity to help implement two initiatives - (1) create new programs at the intersection of the university's mission and (2) market and develop a common, intentional co-curricular student-athlete experience - responsive to the university's strategic plan, Susquehanna 2020: Thriving at the Intersections of Mission and Market. THE POSITION The Director of Athletics is responsible for the development, management, coordination and supervision of a competitive intercollegiate athletics program, providing vision and leadership in supporting the academic and athletic success of students in concert with the University's mission and strategic priorities. The Director of Athletics reports to the Vice President for Student Life and is an active member of the student life leadership team, providing strategic planning and management to direct the division. Collaborating with the Office of Advancement, the director will help build strategic corporate and alumni partnerships to identify gift opportunities that support Susquehanna's athletic department.
Required Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE The successful candidate must possess a minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in collegiate athletics administration and must be a well-organized self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills. The Director of Athletics will have demonstrated a commitment of academic excellence and will own a successful record of cultivating corporate and alumni relationships as well as working with diverse group of constituencies.
