Under the supervision of the Chief Advancement Officer, the Major Gift Officer will work with all members of the Advancement Team to organize and drive successful major and planned giving efforts. They will oversee prospecting, moves management, cultivation, stewardship, solicitation and acknowledgment for a portfolio of existing donors and new prospects.
Major Gifts at the Villa refers to a fundraising approach and not a particular gift threshold. We approach major gift work by connecting with individual donors and prospects, who have evinced philanthropic interest and capacity, through personal and individualized cultivation, stewardship, face-to-face solicitations, and acknowledgment. The goal of our work is to achieve long-term relationships, joyful philanthropy, and significant and meaningful gifts.
You will join an experienced, well-supported, and high-functioning 7-person Advancement team in the final 16 months of a $25 million comprehensive capital campaign ($20 million raised). We are committed to fundraising ethics and best-practices, building long-term relationships with donors, and creating an environment of joyful giving for our team, our volunteers, and our supporters.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Work with the Chief Advancement Officer, Director of Annual Giving, and Data and Research Manager, to use our donor database and wealth screening tools to build a portfolio of major gift and planned giving donors and prospects;
Conduct activity within the framework of the current comprehensive campaign effort and any future specialized initiatives;
Help current and new major donors build relationships with the Villa and accomplish their philanthropic goals;
Schedule, host and attend prospect and donor meetings at the Villa and in the community;
Create moves management plans;
Make direct face to face solicitations, and assist staff and volunteers with solicitations;
Strategize cultivation and stewardship initiatives and activities with the Chief Advancement Officer and the Director of Annual Giving to deepen relationships with donors and increase fundraising revenue;
Track and report progress using specific metrics;
Coordinate meaningful, timely, and personal gift acknowledgements;
Work with Advancement team and volunteers to align efforts and set appropriate goals for major gift activity and fundraising.
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 4 years of direct major and planned giving fundraising experience, with knowledge of major and planned giving vehicles and a demonstrated track record of requesting and securing major gifts. Excellent attention to details and recordkeeping skills are necessary. Proficient with Windows, Outlook, internet research, MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with CRM software preferred.
