Serve as the primary communications contact for OU's women's basketball program, working closely with Hall of Fame head coach Sherri Coale, her staff and student-athletes, as well as for other athletics programs as assigned. Serve in a supervisory role with research fellows and student assistants. Create unique written content, features and releases, design media guides, compile statistics, oversee website and social media content, arrange media interviews, conduct interviews, travel to select away events, etc. Assist in all aspects of office activity and in coverage of other sports and events as required.
Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:
0-24 months full-time experience in collegiate/professional athletics communications
A strong graphic design background.
Effective writing, editing, computer, organizational, interpersonal, oral communication and mentoring skills.
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Statcrew statistical software
Ability to think creatively and engage a variety of stakeholders, particularly students and other on-campus groups
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that includes night and weekend hours
Advertised Physical Requirements:
Must be able to communicate effectively and engage in repetitive motion.
Previous experience working with coaching staff and administrators on a daily basis
Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts.
Videography/digital photography experience
Master's degree in journalism, communications or related field
