The University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer (R97738). Under the general supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer is a twelve month position and will serve as the primary athletic trainer for Men’s Basketball and other sports assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and will be responsible for all aspects of athletic training for those sports. The assignment may change at the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer. This position will require certification from the NATABOC and eligibility to be licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Athletic Training. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will practice under the supervision of the Team Physician for UA Little Rock. All duties and responsibilities are governed by state, federal and university policy.
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for overseeing athletic related medical care for all student athletes; Provide daily treatments, rehabilitation, and management of athletic injuries/illnessesfor student athletes; Provide daily practice/event coverage for but not limited to Basketball and other sports as required by the Head Athletic Trainer; Travel will be required but not limited to Basketball regular season and championship competitions; Establish lines of communication with coaches/medical personnel concerning student athlete’s status with their injury/illness; Liaison with UA Little Rock team physician and other medical personnel concerning S-A medical care; Coordinates student-athlete appointments and follow-ups with physicians as needed, this includes but not limited to orthopedic, optometry, dental, and family practice; Assist the Head ATC with establishing and implementing policy and procedures; Maintains and updates individual s-a’s files including but not limited to medical treatment/history, rehabilitation programs, drug testing results, and family insurance information; Performs other job related duties assigned by the Head ATC; Assist Head ATC and Team Physicians with scheduling and processing of pre-participation physical exams; Responsible for making sure primary and secondary insurance information is correct and is provided to the physician or allied healthcare professional before an office visit; Communicating with Head Coaches concerning student athlete welfare; Parental contact in case of serious injury or perceived incident with Head Coach.
Required Education and/or Experience: An earned Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training; One (1) year experience covering Basketball as an ATC at the intercollegiate level, as well as two (2) years overall experience as an ATC at the intercollegiate level; Must be NATABOC certified and eligible for license in the state of Arkansas.. Possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to travel and work extensive nights and weekends. Knowledge of NCAA, Sun Belt Conference and University rules.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree in athletic training or a related field
