POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Development (Director) is directly responsible for driving fundraising revenue and for effectively planning, budgeting and managing On Lok's development efforts. The Director will supervise the Development Team (Team) who are directly responsible for the daily operation of these fundraising activities. This role reports to the Chief Development Officer (CDO).
Experience leading all aspects of a development function including direct mail, major gifts, grant funding, corporate giving, planned giving and event planning.
Extensive experience motivating and leading development campaigns, volunteers, committees, and development staff to reach fundraising goals.
Five years' supervisory experience required, two years' experience supervising managers preferred.
Five years' experience working in development and communications.
Ability to act as an advocate for the elderly; understanding of health care and/or human services environment, a plus.
Demonstrated commitment to On Lok's values of compassion, excellence, resourcefulness, and inclusivity.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and sustain trusted relationships with colleagues and funders.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including timely and effective correspondence, and excellent public speaking and group facilitation skills; demonstrated experience developing fundraising communication strategies for diverse workgroups.
Strong analytical and strategic planning experience and skill.
Highly organized and capable of working in a changing environment. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and maintain quality of work.
Knowledge of current legal, tax and other standards relevant to fundraising.
Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm to work with a diverse group of stakeholders and team members across San Francisco and the South Bay areas.
Excellent computer skills required.
Valid California Driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and/or the ability to drive and travel throughout the SF Bay Area.
