Wagner College, a Division I member of the Northeast Conference invites applications for Assistant Athletics Director of Media Relations. The Assistant Athletics Director will strategize, oversee and implement a plan to promote department and intercollegiate communications.
This position will oversee, manage and generate communications and information that promotes Wagner’s intercollegiate athletics programs; cultivate relationships with sports media contacts and thereby generate interest in unique Wagner stories/content, develop and respond to inquiries, create press releases and conduct press conferences, manage the production and distribution of online and print publications, maintain the athletics website, manage game day media, generate and catalog sports statistics and manage department photography needs. This person will attend home contests and travel with designated Wagner sports teams, creating statistical summaries, graphics and video content, and written summaries that drive interest in and support of teams and student-athletes. The Assistant AD will possess and utilize expertise and knowledge of trend setting communications mediums in order to accelerate momentum, build awareness and engage the various Athletics and university constituencies.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree is preferred. Excellent computer, organization, and communication skills are necessary. At least three years of experience in sports information/athletics communications professional level, required. Experience with desktop publishing (InDesign), graphics software (Photoshop, Illustrator), video editing (Premier, IMovie) is required. Experience with Genius or StatCrew software- particularly for football and basketball is preferred.
