Xavier University is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Director for Affinity Philanthropy position. The Assistant Director will work to advance the mission of Xavier University by growing philanthropic support from key constituent and affinity groups. These groups include Xavier Parents, Women of Excellence, and others as assigned. This position is responsible for playing a key role in the planning, implementation and successful execution of a wide variety of critical functions for the team including external programs and events, volunteer management, data management, while maintaining a personal portfolio of donors. This position requires a strong sense of organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines, strong communications skills on a variety of platforms, and the ability to represent the University to a wide variety of audiences. Some travel and night/weekend flexibility is required as a primary responsibility of this position. Attendance at various University events and personal visits with donors is required.
The Assistant Director for Affinity Philanthropy’s principal responsibilities include the following:
Collaborate with the Director for the Parent and Affinity Philanthropy to plan and execute special cultivation and stewardship events such as the Parent Advisory Board meeting, Women of Excellence council meetings, and special affinity group events throughout the year.
Coordinate marketing and social media communication to increase awareness of different affinity groups and promote opportunities for engagement and philanthropic involvement through newsletters, multiple social media platforms, e-communications and direct mail.
Oversee the solicitation process for the WOX Giving Circle including direct mail and e-solicitations. In addition, manage the WOX Giving Circle grant application and award process.
Engage and build relationships with key constituents from targeted affinity groups with the goal of building an Annual Fund portfolio. This will entail utilizing University events, personal outreach and individual meetings.
Essential Qualifications: This position requires an ability to thrive in a goal oriented, sales environment and develop and cultivate strong relationships with university constituents. This person must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to think strategically and to foster a collaborative team environment, strong oral and written communication skills, and the energy and self-confidence to identify and initiate new strategies to grow Xavier’s Annual Fund.
Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree, 2-5 years professional experience, preferably in higher education.
