The National Psoriasis Foundation is a dynamic and growing non-profit organization dedicated to research, advocacy, and patient and medical education as we work toward a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and support those impacted by psoriatic disease. Headquartered in Portland, OR, the Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual as our Director of Major Gifts.
The Director of Major Gifts will be responsible for meeting the organization’s major gifts annual fundraising goals and objectives. This position will identify, engage, solicit, cultivate and steward current and prospective donors in expanding their financial support for the Foundation. Additionally, The Director of Major Gifts will work closely with the Chief Revenue Office and CEO to create individual engagement and solicitation strategies to increase the organization’s philanthropic and in-kind support from individuals and family foundations.
This position can be based remotely, candidate is to reside near a major metropolitan airport to facilitate national travel.
Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gift prospects in support of the Foundation by matching and advancing fundraising priorities with prospective donors’ interests.
Work collaboratively with the Chief Revenue Officer focused on cultivating and soliciting gifts of $25,000 or greater from individuals with the capacity and propensity of giving.
Manage a portfolio of 100-125 major gift prospects and donors; develop and document written cultivation and solicitation strategies and proposals.
Schedule from an assigned list of prospects between 125-150 personal face-to-face donor meetings and solicitations; to establish or strengthen donor relationships for long term support.
Maintain donor information through Raiser's Edge, with the assistance of development staff, accurate records of anticipated actions, completed actions, results of constituent contacts, and recommendations or plans for follow-up work.
Develop and manage the major gifts annual budget.
Create and edit donor correspondences such as letters, emails, funding proposals, and reports.
Become on expert on the Foundation’s programmatic needs for the purpose of effective donor stewardship, using available resources and opportunities.
Develop, organize and implement major donor cultivation events and activities.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, non-profit management, business administration or a related field.
Minimum of five+ years of individual major gift fundraising with proven experience securing significant gifts.
Experience working with physicians, scientists and high capacity individuals.
Experience supporting big ticket event fundraising.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage projects and volunteers.
Proficiency in using computers and database programs. Prefer experience with Raiser’s Edge and fundraising software.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion.
Ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
