About Abilene Christian University
The mission of Abilene Christian University Athletics is “Honor Christ through excellence in academics and athletics,” and the vision is to “Win at the highest level by providing the most Christ-centered student-athlete experience in collegiate athletics.” ACU will begin its sixth year of NCAA Division I affiliation with the 2018-19 school year, and the first five have been filled with amazing accomplishments. ACU has finished in the top half of the Southland Conference Commissioners’ Cup in each of the four previous years in which it was eligible to win the cup, including a best finish of third place in 2015-16. ACU has won five Southland Conference championships in the the last three seasons.
No intercollegiate athletics program in the state of Texas – at any level – can claim as many national championships as ACU, which has won 64 team titles since 1952. Only four colleges and universities – including Stanford, USC and UCLA – have won more NCAA national team championships than the Wildcats. ACU’s internationally recognized track and field program has produced world-record holders, more than 20 Olympians, several hundred all-America performers and two Olympic gold medalists.... In addition, the program was named the Texas Sports Dynasty of the Century by Texas Monthly magazine in November 1999.
Founded in 1906, ACU?is the premier university for the education of Christ-centered global leaders. It offers 77 baccalaureate majors that include more than 135 areas of study, 30 master's degree and three doctoral programs. ACU Dallas, a branch campus in Addison, Texas, is the home of the university’s online graduate and professional programs. ACU enrolls about 5,000 students, generally from 51 states and territories, and 40 nations, and has about 90,000 alumni in more than 100 nations. Its graduates are best-selling authors; winners of the Pulitzer Prize, Olympic medals, and Emmy, Grammy, Telly and Dove awards; and national leaders in education, business, law, science and medicine, journalism, psychology and ministry.
A private, comprehensive university, ACU was founded in 1906 in Abilene, Texas, a friendly city of 120,000 people about 150 miles west of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. As an educational center for a large region, Abilene provides cultural, entertainment and support programs and services normally associated with much larger cities.
