The University of South Carolina is currently seeking applications for the position of Academic Advisor, working specifically with Baseball and other assigned sports. As a member of the Dodie Anderson Academic Enrichment Center staff, this position will be required to: •Advise assigned student-athletes on academic performance, course/major selection, developing a graduation plan, time management, goal setting, career planning, learning and study strategies, test taking, note taking, and other skills for academic success. •Maintain student-athlete eligibility by University of South Carolina, SEC and NCAA standards, rules and regulations. •Maintain regular verbal and written communication with coaches regarding academic issues and concerns. •Cultivate sustainable working relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and staff. •Meet with recruits in assigned sports to provide an overview of available academic services and effectively communicate our staff philosophy and mission. •To work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department. •Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletics Director for Academics.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Student Services or related field and 1 years related experience, or bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with academics in college athletics environment is strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to work with a diverse student-athlete population. Communicate effectively with students, professors, peers and parents.
