Mississippi State University Athletics is seeking an Assistant Coordinator/Communications to join its communications and external team. The successful candidate must be highly organized and driven with exceptional multi-tasking and communication skills. This position will work closely with the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Communications, in addition to working alongside the communications, marketing and creative teams. The candidate must have strong knowledge of social media and digital platforms as well as outstanding writing and strategic communications skills. Travel will be required as well as working long hours and weekends. 1.Serve as the primary communications contact for the soccer program. a.Prepare, maintain and distribute media information and other publicity for soccer year round. b.Manage, create and strategize creative content for the department’s social and digital media platforms related to soccer. c.Produce content for the official athletic department website, particularly as it relates to soccer. d.Serve as team spokesperson and coordinate all of the program’s media appearances. e.Travel with the team to cover all matches. f.Supervise media operations for all home matches. g.Promote student-athletes for various national, regional and conference awards. h.Work closely with the SEC’s broadcast partners and external media to provide accurate information for coverage. i.Maintain the soccer program’s statistical archives and records. 2.Serve as the primary communications contact for the track and field program. a.Prepare, maintain and distribute media information and other publicity for track and field year round. b.Manage, create and strategize creative content for the department’s social and digital media platforms related to track and field. c.Produce content for the official athletic department website, particularly as it relates to track and field. d.Serve as team spokesperson and coordinate all of the program’s media appearances. e.Travel with the team to cover various meets. f.Supervise media operations for the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays and Maroon and White Invite. g.Strategically communicate to broaden the program’s national JavU brand. h.Promote student-athletes for various national, regional and conference awards. i.Maintain the track and field program’s statistical archives and records. 3.Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate local, state and national media representatives. Work to develop positive relations with the local community. 4.Complete other departmental tasks as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Communications.

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism with one (1) year of experience as a full-time or post graduate in media relations or athletic communications. |
