Job Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Director will assist in leading a successful NCAA Division II athletic program at Regis University by serving as a member of the senior staff leadership team that is committed to excellence, integrity and advancing the Department’s mission and strategic vision. The position is responsible for strategic direction, oversight, coordination, leadership and active participation in maintaining and revenue generation of all current and new athletic facilities. The position will report to the Assistant Vice President Director of Athletics.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Athletic Facility Oversight:
- Assist the Assistant Vice President Director of Athletics with detailed planning and supervision of existing facility maintenance, renovations and/or new facility additions. This includes meetings with potential internal and external users and architects to plan the improvements/additions and meetings to ensure progress continues within acceptable timelines and budgets.
- Oversee and prepare all athletics/event venues and stadiums, including but not limited to the lacrosse field/match pitch, the arena, baseball field, softball field and the soccer/lacrosse practice fields.
Athletic Facility Maintenance:
- Coordinate efforts between Athletic facility staff and the University’s Physical Plant staff to support the day-to-day upkeep and cleaning of facilities, maintenance and scheduling of the department’s buses, vans, golf carts, side by side vehicles and key bank.
- Ensure and perform day-to-day maintenance of all athletic venues utilizing a work study staff to assist in these efforts.
Athletic Facility Preparation:
- Ensure and perform daily athletic facility preparation including but not limited to the lining of athletic fields and set-up and tear down of athletic facilities for all events.
- Act as liaison between facility managers, SID’s, trainers, marketing personnel, etc. to coordinate a safe and fun environment for all home events.
Transportation and Facility Scheduling:
- Oversee and schedule athletic facilities that are utilized by varsity athletic teams, club sports teams, intramural sports, Event Services, summer camp groups, the Office of Public Affairs and numerous outside groups and organizations. Initiate facility rental contracts with internal and external constituencies.
- Oversee calendar events scheduled in each venue.
- Establish and adjust prices, rates and rate schedules for users.
- Hire, pay, supervise and direct all personnel necessary for the operation of each rental contract and home athletics contest.
- Oversee the development of an encompassing marketing plan to identify and procure new vendors and/or users of identified facilities (Berce Athletic Center, Field House, practice fields, indoor hitting facility, baseball field and softball field).
Professional Development:
- Be an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), represent Regis at national conventions and seminars, and serve on campus, regional and national committees.
- Promote the Brand of the Athletic Department and Regis University: Shall continually strive to enhance the image of the Regis University Athletic Department and its programs through in-game conduct, interpersonal contacts, visitors, University faculty/staff and community citizens.
- Fundraise for the Athletic Department: Required to fully participate in department fundraising activities, fundraising events, University campaigns and special project campaigns.
- Create an Atmosphere of Compliance: Know, recognize and comply with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing of the NCAA, the RMAC and the Regis Athletic Department. Supervise and ensure that any assistants and any other employees and/or volunteers for whom you are administratively responsible comply with the aforesaid policies, rules and regulations. Immediately advise the Regis compliance director if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
DECISION MAKING: This person will be responsible for making daily decisions that affect how the university is viewed.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY: This position oversees all facility rentals so will therefore have budgetary responsibilities to generate revenue for the department.
COMMUNICATION: Interpersonal level of communication includes factual, interpretative, motivational and confidentiality.
RESULTS OF ACTIONS: Impact of results effects the financial stability and overall perception of the athletic department as well as the university. |
