Cornell College, a residential liberal arts college and a member of the Midwest Conference of the NCAA Division III located in Mount Vernon, IA, is seeking nominations and applications for a Head Football Coach. Cornell has competed in football for 128 years. This is a full-time, year-round position reporting to the Director of Athletics.
The Head Coach will manage the football program, including:
The Head Coach will provide leadership and overall direction for the football program
Recruitment and retention of football student-athletes
Ensure institutional, NCAA, and Midwest Conference Compliance regulations are met as head coach
Selection and management of assistant and volunteer coaches;
In close partnership with the Office of Admission, organize and implement a successful recruiting plan to yield an appropriate number of qualified student-athletes for the football program, including oversight of the communication flow;
Manage the physical conditioning and skills development techniques for student-athletes;
Provide general counsel, guidance, mentorship and inspiration to student-athletes regarding their overall success at Cornell College;
Assist, as needed, in developing positive alumni relations and working closely with development with fundraising efforts to support a competitive Division III athletics program;
Demonstrate community involvement with active leadership as a positive role model, including participation in team-based community service projects and encouragement of student-athlete participation.

Qualifications Cornell College is seeking an experienced collegiate football coach with a record of success teaching the game of football and its strategies, motivating a team to compete at its best level, and selecting and leading a staff who bring skill and integrity to the program. We expect the selected candidate to have earned a bachelor's degree and have collegiate football experience, preferably as a head coach or coordinator. Prior recruiting and coaching experience at an institution similar to Cornell College is desirable.
