Primary Purpose This announcement will be used to fill two positions; all applications will be considered for both opportunities.
The Athletic Academic Advisor will be responsible for assisting the Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services with monitoring and facilitating academic progress toward graduation for student-athletes. Work with assigned athletic teams regarding academic performance; class/major selection; development of academic strategies related to time management, goal setting, career planning, test and note-taking skills; and other skills necessary for academic success in a post-secondary environment. Maintain confidential student-athlete records and ensure that records are updated accordingly. Acts as a liaison between student-athletes, coaches, faculty, academic departments and student services personnel and advocating on behalf of student-athletes academic interest. Assist sport programs with unofficial and official student-athletes visits and have the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines that at times will include working non-traditional hours.
Academic advising, class scheduling, and schedule verification for student-athletes.
Work with college academic advisors to assist student-athletes completion of university degree programs and requirements.
Ensure student-athletes meet university academics standards related to general education course selection.
Assist and perform initial and transfer eligibility evaluations.
Monitor and track new, continuing, and transfer student-athlete eligibility.
Assist with student-athletes summer school verification, approval, and enrollment.
Monitor and assist prospective student-athletes with the NCAA Eligibility Center, Big Sky policies, institutional policy, regarding academic requirements for eligibility.
Supervision of study hall program for student-athletes and all other services within the area.
Maintain knowledge and have commitment to follow NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and University rules/regulations concerning academic eligibility and progress in a Division I athletic program.
Will work with people of diverse backgrounds.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Academics, Senior Woman Admin or Executive Director of Academic Advising and Assessment.
Hold current Bachelor's Degree, or will have completed Bachelor's Degree by January 1, 2020.
Experience in academic advising—high school or post-secondary education environments.
Willing to travel periodically and work evenings and weekend as needed.
Master's Degree in a related field.
Two years of experience in intercollegiate athletic academic advising in higher education.
Demonstrated knowledge of Academic Progress Rate (APR) and NCAA Eligibility requirements in Division I athletic programs.
