The Facility Manager II/Aquatics Manager handles daily facility operations and game operations for the Natatorium and Tennis Center facilities. This position supervises Natatorium lifeguards and is responsible for maintaining all training and ensuring staff are certified as required by Jefferson County law. This position reports directly to the Director of Natatorium and Tennis Center.
Oversee day-to-day operations of Natatorium:
Pool Maintenance: Keeps pool area clean and hazard-free, while assisting in maintaining water quality levels and monitoring chemical usage and needs. Inform supervisor of issues with equipment (needs and faultiness) or personnel.
Ensure that facility and staff are held to high standard of an Elite NCAA program.
Follow Maintenance guide set forth by supervisor
Serve as game day manager for various sports, ACC and NCAA championships:
Oversee and manage game day and event decision making; oversee and assign contracted personnel for assigned events
Oversee and assign usher/ticket takers and security personnel for game days; monitor inclement weather and make decisions to ensure safety and security of all staff, student-athletes, visiting teams, and attendees/spectators; communicate any schedule changes
Facility Manager duties:
Manage the hiring and dismissal processes of lifeguards and Splash Swim School instructors (temporary employees), schedule lifeguards and Swim School Instructors, and maintain personnel files, including timesheets.
Pool Set-Up: Ensures pool configuration is to the needs of the UofL swim team or special events of the day, distributing lanes to groups as set forth by supervisor.
Teaching: Leads a minimum of four lifeguarding classes on annual basis and conducts regular lifeguard in-service training.
Understand NCAA compliance as it related to facility and report any concerns to appropriate parties
Other duties as assigned by Director of Natatorium and Tennis Center
Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration or related field and three years of facilities management experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (if not presently certified, must be acquired within 90 days of hire). Jefferson County Board of Health Lifeguard License (if not presently certified, must be acquired within 90 days of hire). American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification (if not presently certified, must be acquired within 6 months). Valid driver's license and must be insurable by University insurance carrier. Must pass employment physical and be able to lift, carry and load equipment up to 50 lbs. Ability to travel and work nights, weekends and holidays and be on call as needed. Grade EF. Salary Minimum $47,476.
