Applications and nominations are invited for the position of head men’s basketball coach at the University of Maine Farmington. The head coach will provide instruction, training, coaching and administer all organizational aspects of a competitive intercollegiate NCAA Division III basketball program via coordinated recruitment, organization and the assistance of a part-time assistant coach. Commitment and ability to lead and run a model program that attracts, yields and graduates talented student-athletes, develops them holistically as individuals and results in a team that is competitive on all fronts is required. Building positive student relationships and meaningful student experiences while demonstrating the utmost professionalism and integrity is expected. Additional duties are likely to include, but are not limited to, instruction in the coaching minor, athletic alumni relations/development, fundraising, special events/projects/initiatives and out of season event management. Being a great team player within the department, who is eager to work collaboratively with all programs/staff/administration who share facilities, resources and common goals, values and mission are essential. Sincere interest and flexibility to assist and adjust responsibilities that support evolving department/university needs are required.

Work schedule is August 15-June 15 annually recurring.

Minimum: A bachelors degree, 3 years applicable coaching experience – basketball, a case made for ability to successfully recruit, experience with administrative aspects of the position.
Physical Requirements: Ability to get in/out of motor coach/other team transportation, ability to manage/lift/move equipment/gear to/from practice and/or events being managed. Stamina for 7 day a week period, with extended travel, evening/weekend events/practices. Visual ability to observe practices, game film, and to work with much detailed computer work. Vocal ability to communicate effectively over the phone, in practice/competition – projecting in a loud environment. Typically, the ability to pass/catch a basketball, and to demonstrate some walkthrough of proper movement/positioning is expected.
Master’s degree, head coaching experience/significant Asst. coaching experience, collegiate playing/coaching experience, experience recruiting and effectively using software like front rush/equivalent.
